Last night I had the previlege to go for the premiere of King Kong at the Sathyam Cinemas. It seemed that many people were not knowing of the premiere or may have skipped it because of its late night showing. The movie was kept at 10.15 pm which is not good for those who commutes in the public transport system. To add to the trouble the show started at around 10.35. To be frank one never knew how the time went from the moment the film started. Will the usual interval, the film ended at around 2.00 am. The film is amazingly awesome to watch. The extreme long shots of the ship in the deep ocean is quite spectacular. Ofcourse lot of CG has been used but still one need to make them. But there were few places where one could find out that its a CG. The one that instantly came to my mind is the one where in a extreme long shot of fire is shown flowing through the mountain in the skull island. One can make out that those are made of using particle systems. The scores of dinosaurs running when they are chased by other dinosaurs (carnivores) is again a mind blowing chase sequence. It looks like hunting dogs chasing deers. Then came the best of them the fight between T-Rex(es) and King Kong. Never ever have I seen such an fight sequence. But the funny part is that when there are tons and tons of flesh all around the island why should the T-Rex fight with the King Kong for Ann(Naomi Watts) who will be max of 60kg. Imagine you are having Mac Burgers and Pizzas all around you to eat, you will never look for a Lays packet. I must say T-Rex chasing Ms Watts really didnt make any sense. Had there weren't any food for the T-Rex one could have expected. But one thing for sure had it not for those selfish or greedy T-Rex we wouldn't have seen such an awesome fight sequence. And as for King Kong, he is really short those stathmin genes which causes you to have the sense of fear (Very soon more on this subject). The film is a must watch for all those special efx enthusiasts. Harry Potter will now defiuntely feel the heat and soon the Goblet of Fire will be extingished by King Kong. Peter Jackson has yet again bought an ace and it may go on to beat the Titanic. It will be worth watching whether King Kong can really sink the Titanic. One strange common thing about both the films is that in both the movie the title character dies in the end.
The last lines from Carl Denham (Jack Black) sumed up "..it was the beauty that killed the beast". The same was true for Titanic.
PS: Thank you Karthik for dropping me at my place at 2 in the morning.
